ID: 486 - $229,000 : 2 Jurnee Lane, Greens Point, Charlotte County, N.B.
You can rebuild a home, but you can't manufacture waterfront. This property, located at Greens Point, New Brunswick consists of approximately 3 acres of land with approximately 300 feet of waterfront in the form of a gravel beach. On the westerly beach side of the property is a view of Passamaquoddy Bay and the Islands, with St. Andrews By The Sea and stunning sunsets in the distance. Although there is no waterfront on the easterly side of the property there is a near view of bold ocean including the Bay of Fundy, the Wolves Islands, a more distance outlook on Grand Manan, and of course occasionally whales, seals and other marine mammals and birds. To the south is a view of the barrier islands and Green's Point lighthouse. Another great feature of this waterfront property is that there is a mooring included on the beach side of the property. The actual property is typical outport topography, lots of water, gravel, and rock, with coastal flora. There are two buildings on the property. The old historic house is an 1860's Greek revival fisherman's cottage. It contains a living/dining area, kitchen and bathroom downstairs. The upstairs consists of three small bedrooms with wonderful views from all rooms. When we first bought the property everyone around advised us to tear it down, but we could not do that to a house that has survived the Saxby Gale and a century and half of all that the weather on the North Atlantic could offer. The work to ensure the structural integrity of the building is nearing completion. This would be a perfect time for someone to takeover and complete restoration. We are continuing to work on the property so specifications will change somewhat as we progress. Across a small landscaped, fenced yard is a new building. This is a Cape style cedar shingled cottage, which is nearing completion. It was originally intended as a workshop and sleeping cabin for the grandparents. There is a large L shaped 24 x 22 workshop downstairs and a finely finished dining/sitting room with remarkable views both east and west. Upstairs is an open concept room 30'x20' that can be easily be made into two large bedrooms and a bath. Skylights have been inserted into the roof to view the surrounding ocean vista and to make the room light and airy. There are also large windows at each end of the upstairs space The workshop area in this building could easily be converted, in a matter of days. To a kitchen/keeping room and a bathroom to make it a self-sufficient cottage. This property is right in the midst of superb boating, fishing, kayaking, seabird and whale watching. The nearest shopping is the lovely town of St George, which is 10 minutes away. The property is also 30 minutes from the historic resort town of St. Andrews By The Sea with its many attractions, including Kings Brae Public Gardens, boutique shopping and a championship golf course. The Loyalist city of Saint John, New Brunswick is 50 minutes away to the East, while St. Stephen and the U.S. border lie 40 minutes to the West. To our American neighbors who might be interested in the property there are two worthwhile points. The price in US dollars is approximately 170 K, and the character of the property has more in common with true the Down East Maine, than mid coast Maine.
